Quantitative HPLC determination of naphthoquinones in Impatiens balsamina leaves

چکیده

Impatiens balsamina L. is a plant belonging to the family Balsaminaceae. In Thailand, I. balsamina has traditionally been used for the treatment of thorn or glasspuncture wounds, abscesses, ingrown nails and chronic ulcers caused by allergic reaction of detergents (Fransworth and Bunyapraphatsara, 1992). The groups of compounds commonly found in this plant are naphthoquinones, coumarins, phenolic acids, flavonoids, anthocyanidins and steroids (Bohm and Towers, 1962).
